How do I find out if Comcast is down in my area? ›

You can check for outages using the Xfinity app on your mobile phone. Simply open the Xfinity app and outage information appears.

Troubleshooting steps

Hand-tighten all cable connections to make sure they're not loose. If using an HDMI cable to connect the X1 TV Box to the TV, confirm that it's plugged into the proper locations. Power on both the TV and the X1 TV Box. Confirm that the TV is set to the proper input.

Check to see if a service outage has been reported in your area by signing into your account and checking the Status Center, or register your phone to receive text alerts and text “Out” to 266278. If you're a Comcast Business customer, go to our Service Status Center to check your service health.

You live outside of our service area. Your address is more than 300 feet from our physical network. We haven't extended our service line to your address. Your property owner, homeowners association or condominium association has an agreement with another service provider or won't give us access to provide our services.

Reboot your TV Boxes

Press and hold the Power button located on the front of the primary DVR TV Box for 10 seconds. The TV Box should automatically reboot.

Use the arrow buttons on the remote to highlight Low Signal Indicator. Press OK (or press the raised button on the center of the directional pad if your X1 remote does not have an OK button) to toggle the feature on. The indicator will then appear at the top right of your screen, next to the time and temperature.

Check to see if the WiFi network name and password were changed, and update your personal device WiFi settings to the new name and password, if necessary.
