https://lnkd.in/eDp3SEtH👶🌟 Embracing the Norwegian Parenting Style: Independence and Responsibility from a Young Age 🌟👶In Norway, kids as young as six walk to school alone, manage their routines, and enjoy unsupervised play. This free-range parenting style fosters independence, responsibility, and self-determination.Key Highlights:Early Independence: Children walk to school alone from age six, handle daily tasks, and organize their own playdates.Cultural Roots: This approach is deeply rooted in Norwegian history and was reinforced post-WWII, valuing mutual respect and trust.Outdoor Fun: Outdoor activities are essential, teaching resilience and motor skills, with the motto "No bad weather, just bad clothing."Supportive Environment: Affordable childcare and high female workforce participation contribute to this lifestyle.Learning from Failure: Mistakes are seen as valuable lessons, helping children develop problem-solving skills and resilience. This parenting style contrasts with more risk-averse cultures, but it produces confident, capable, and self-reliant individuals. 🌍✨#Parenting #Independence #Children #Education #Culture #Resilience #Development #Trust #Outdoors #Learning

https://lnkd.in/eb5S5MyeFor all you leaders out there, an oldie but a goodie from Project Management Institute! We’ve all dealt with disruptive team members. PMI identified key types and offered strategies to handle them effectively. Understanding these behaviors and applying these strategies can help maintain team harmony and productivity. Enjoy the tldr- Tanks (loud and pushy): Stay calm, assert your position confidently, and set boundaries.Snipers (covertly hostile): Address them directly and calmly, bringing their behavior into the open.Grenades (explosive outbursts): Stay composed, don't react emotionally, and address their concerns once they've calmed down.Know-It-Alls: Listen patiently, validate their knowledge, but politely share alternative views.Think-They-Know-It-Alls: Ask questions to subtly expose their lack of knowledge.“Yes” People: Encourage them to be honest about their capabilities and set realistic expectations.“Maybe” People: Help them make decisions by simplifying choices and offering guidance.“Nothing” People: Engage them with direct questions to elicit feedback.“No” People: Focus on finding solutions rather than getting stuck on problems.Whiners: Redirect their focus to positive aspects and potential solutions.Tuesday Challenge: reflect and identify if you belong in one of these.#Leadership#Teamwork#Communication#Productivity#Conflict#Strategy#Management#Motivation#Behavior#Skills

https://lnkd.in/ejtDAzEEIn a recent article in New York Magazine's Intelligencer, written by Kerry Howley, the author presents a different side of Stanford University neuroscientist and ophthalmologist Andrew Huberman. In the article, Kerry outlines how Huberman's podcast, known for its rigorous exploration of topics like dopamine and neuromodulators, offers listeners actionable protocols for better health. His ability to make intricate science accessible without oversimplifying has earned him a massive following. Yet, this influence also raises questions about the balance between public persona and personal conduct.Huberman's narrative of overcoming a difficult childhood and his dedication to therapy and science have inspired many. But recent revelations about his personal relationships and professional conduct suggest a more complicated picture. This juxtaposition of his public teachings and private life challenges us to consider the impact of his influence on his audience. This post, however, is intended to focus on a very specific section of the article- #supplements.“In an industry not noted for its integrity, AG1 (formerly Athletic Greens) is, according to writer and professional debunker Derek Beres, 'one of the most egregious players in the space.' Here we have a powder that contains, according to its own marketing, 75 active ingredients, far more than the typical supplement, which would seem a selling point but for the inconveniences of mass. As performance nutritionist Adam McDonald points out, the vast number of ingredients indicates that each ingredient, which may or may not promote good health in a certain dose, is likely included in minuscule amounts, though consumers are left to do the math themselves; the company keeps many of the numbers proprietary. 'We can be almost guaranteed that literally every supplement or ingredient within this proprietary blend is underdosed,' explains McDonald; the numbers, he says, don’t appear to add up to anything research has shown to be meaningful in terms of human health outcomes.I wanted to share this mainly to invite you to reconsider any supplements you may be taking and re-visit any due-diligence you may have skipped when you took the word of these "experts". Admittedly, I was one of those individuals who believed that folks like Huberman, Tim Ferriss, and Joe Rogan were giving these recommendations based on the insights of professionals who understand the mechanism behind the ingredients in these supplements. But, unfortunately, that's not the case. I recently began experiencing gut health issues, ironically, after well over a year of AG1 - a supplement that claims to be your one-stop-shop for multivitamins, multiminerals, stress adaptogens, prebiotics, probiotics, antioxidants, superfoods, functional mushrooms, and digestive enzymes. Takeaways: supplements are misunderstood, dosing is overwhelmingly misunderstood, and ALWAYS #research. #health #wellness #medicine

https://lnkd.in/eYDptSERIt's an exciting time for non-alcoholic beverages in Canada! Canadians are rethinking their relationship with alcohol, with more people opting for sober or "sober-curious" lifestyles. A recent survey found that a quarter of young Canadians abstained from alcohol last month, and the trend is catching on across all age groups.Innovative brands like Seedlip have revolutionized the market, and now local names like Bluff and Harmon’s are making their mark. Non-alcoholic bars, clubs, and events are popping up everywhere, offering vibrant social scenes without the booze. The shift is also reflected in new guidelines from the CCSA, which now suggest no more than two drinks per week for safe consumption. This movement is not just a trend; it's a significant change in how we socialize and prioritize health. Cheers to more inclusive and health-conscious gatherings! https://lnkd.in/g7F2Cc33Just read a fascinating article on Fed Chair Jerome Powell's recent testimony. Sen. Sherrod Brown challenged Powell, highlighting how corporations use tech to subtly raise prices, contributing to inflation. From dynamic pricing to algorithmic price-fixing (ahem.. amazon), today's companies are getting crafty in maximizing profits. Powell's focus on economic theory missed the point about power dynamics at play. The real takeaway? Corporate strategies are evolving, and so should our approach to regulation. We need comprehensive action to protect consumers from these modern pricing schemes. Food for thought! #Economy #Inflation #ConsumerProtection #Finance #Economics #Business #Leadership #Technology #Policy
