David is fully to blame. He doesn’t know anything about those machines. He didn’t stop because he realized it was too fast or that Jeff panicked, he stopped because of a safety feature, you are not suppose to spin around that fast in one of those and if you do it automatically stops. David is fully to blame.
Edit: I stand by what I said. Jeff didn't know he was going to go that fast and high. David didn't know how to operate the machine therfore Jeff got hurt via David. 100% David's fault and if you put and blame on Jeff you're a moron.
EDIT: I see all the comments about it not being a safety feature and I apologize, I could’ve swear I read somewhere about it.
ALSO obviously Jeff is an adult and he is a little to blame but the main point is it was this was due to negligence on David’s part.
I thought they were supposedly good friends too but didn’t David not want to pay for his surgery or something like that? Haha

People saying it’s Jeff’s fault or they both share responsibility HAVE to be all David’s underaged fans. I refuse to believe anyone is that heartless and unintelligent.
If you think you’re friends with someone and you trust them enough to do a stupid stunt like this, you aren’t dumb because THEY cross the line and nearly murder you. You aren’t responsible, you don’t share the blame, you didn’t “deserve it.” Period.
Jeff thought he was going to get spun around on a crane. He had seen other people do it, and no one got hurt. In his mind the worst case scenario was falling down into the water.
David took his trust and went way overboard. He spun him way too fast, and when Jeff was afraid and begged him to stop because he feared for his life, David took the opportunity to be “funny” and stop so abruptly that Jeff’s body is slammed into the machine and he is hung by his ankle with his face in the water. If no one had reacted, he’d have died. He is now permanently injured and forced to undergo multiple surgeries, possibly for life. In what universe would anyone have foreseen that as a reasonable assumption of risk?
It’s like if you and a friend were standing near a cliff and they randomly pushed you off it and people said “well it’s really your fault for standing so close to the edge.” NO IT IS NOT. And if you think it is, there’s no helping you.

It's his own fault. I hope a judge throws this case out. Nobody forced him. He agreed to do something stupid without considering how dangerous that is. Some people just make it hard for others to feel sorry for them. If he found something else to do that day he'd be fine right now

if theres one thing i don’t understand about this situation is how david isn’t absolutely heart broken and apologetic on another degree after what happened… i couldnt imagine not feeling so so horrible doing that to my friend.

Exactly. Like I understand that Jeff agreed to do it, but it’s still David’s fault. How can you not feel bad about being the one to hurt your friend?
